The Christmas Gift Game is a fun and social tradition that has become a popular activity in many Swedish homes during the holiday season. The game adds excitement and humor to gift-giving, where both luck and strategy play a role.
How it works:
Preparation:
Each participant buys one or more gifts, usually within an agreed price range. The gifts should be wrapped so the contents remain a mystery. They can be anything from funny items to something practical or luxurious – the choice is yours.
Place all the gifts in a pile:
All the gifts are placed in the middle of the table or on the floor, visible to everyone.
Dice round (first phase):
Participants take turns rolling a die, often in two rounds.
If you roll a six, you get to pick a gift from the pile.
The round continues until all the gifts have been taken.
Stealing gifts (second phase):
A timer is set, usually for 10–15 minutes. During this phase, participants can steal gifts from each other!
If you roll a six, you can take a gift from another player.
No one can roll the die again until the current player has completed their turn.
When the timer rings:
When the time is up, each participant keeps the gifts they have in their possession.

FUN FACT. We have introduced this to our american relatives under the name: "The VIKING game". Since the vikings were known for robbing and stealing, the second phase of the game brings out the viking in all of us! Try this, it is a lot of fun!
